Goal of the seminar
This AO Alliance Seminar—Spine Fracture Management provides fundamental knowledge regarding the operative & non-operative management of spine fractures and dealing with infections and tumour according to the AO Principles.
Target audience
This seminar is targeted to Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Residents in training and surgeons in practice interested in developing their knowledge and skills in spine pathologies (fractures, TB, Pyogenic infections and Tumour) management.
Seminar description
Seminar participants will learn the basic AO Principles of spine fracture management.
Seminar objectives
At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Diagnose spinal cord injuries based on the clinical & radiological picture.
- Initial management, prevention of secondary spinal cord injuries, and rehabilitation.
- Classify and manage common fractures and dislocation of the neck and back.
- Spinal immobilization techniques as well as the application of cone calipers.
- Practice demonstration of fusion techniques in the Cervical & Lumbar spine.
- Have a practical approach to Tuberculosis, pyogenic Infection & tumours of the spine.
